Construction has started on the Bakrial Road Project in Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The new road aims to improve connectivity and make travel to Kaghan Valley easier for tourists.
The project will connect the Hazara Expressway and the Karakoram Highway with the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road. This connection is expected to provide a more convenient route for travellers heading towards popular tourist destinations.
According to Mohammad Bilal, a sub-divisional officer of the Communication and Works (C&W) Department, authorities have allocated Rs. 600 million for the project.
The road will cover a distance of seven kilometres. It is also expected to divert traffic away from Mansehra city and reduce congestion on busy routes.
Bakrial Road Project to Improve Tourist Access
The Bakrial Road Project is designed to improve access to Kaghan Valley and surrounding areas. It will provide an alternative route for people travelling from different parts of Pakistan.
Travellers using the Hazara Expressway and the Karakoram Highway will benefit from the new connection. The route will facilitate journeys towards Balakot tehsil, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan through Kaghan Valley.
The improved road link is expected to support tourism and make regional travel more convenient. It may also help reduce pressure on existing roads passing through Mansehra city.
Kaghan Valley attracts visitors from across Pakistan, particularly during the summer tourism season. Better road connectivity can help travellers reach the region more easily.
Officials Review Construction Progress
A joint team from the district administration and the C&W Department recently visited the construction site. Assistant Commissioner Mansehra Sana Fatima led the inspection team.
During the visit, officials reviewed the progress of construction work. Fatima directed the department’s officials and the contractor to speed up work under the Annual Development Programme.
The team also examined payments related to land acquired for the project. Officials discussed other matters connected with construction and implementation.
The inspection aimed to assess progress and address issues that could affect the project’s timely completion.
Road to Pass Through New Balakot City
Mohammad Bilal confirmed that the proposed road would pass through the New Balakot City housing project.
Authorities developed New Balakot City for families displaced by the devastating 2005 earthquake. These families had lived in the red-zone area of Balakot, which was severely affected by the disaster.
The road’s alignment will connect the area with important regional highways. It will also improve access for people travelling towards Kaghan Valley and other destinations.
Project Expected to Reduce Traffic Congestion
The seven-kilometre road is expected to provide an alternative route for motorists. By diverting traffic away from Mansehra city, it could help ease congestion on existing roads.
The Rs. 600 million development project is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements in the region. Its progress will be important for improving transport links and supporting tourism.
