Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has directed officials to speed up a programme aimed at providing technical skills to 30,000 young people. The initiative also seeks to connect trained youth with employment opportunities abroad. The move aims to improve job prospects and strengthen the province’s skilled workforce.
Bugti issued the instructions during the 11th board meeting of the Balochistan Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (B-TEVTA). Officials reviewed ongoing training programmes and progress towards employment targets. The meeting also focused on improving training standards and addressing delays in existing projects.
The chief minister stressed that technical training must match current market demands. He said programmes should prepare young people for actual employment rather than simply provide certificates. He also called for better institutional performance and stronger coordination among the departments responsible for implementing the initiatives.
In a separate directive, Bugti ordered authorities to develop a comprehensive employment strategy for 25,000 young people. These individuals are expected to complete technical training by next year. The strategy will focus on connecting them with job opportunities in Pakistan and international markets.
The initiative is intended to ensure that training leads to practical employment outcomes. Officials will need to identify suitable job opportunities and align vocational courses with employers’ requirements. Better coordination between training institutions and employment agencies could help graduates enter the workforce more effectively.
During the meeting, Bugti also inaugurated an Institute Registration Portal. The digital platform is designed to simplify the registration process for technical training institutes. It is also expected to improve monitoring and oversight of their performance.
The board reviewed delays in the Chief Minister’s Youth Skills Development Program. Officials informed participants that action had been initiated against those responsible for implementation delays and failure to meet targets. The development highlighted concerns about the timely execution of skills training projects.
Bugti directed the relevant authorities to accelerate ongoing initiatives and regularly evaluate institutional performance. He emphasised the need for accountability and effective implementation to achieve the programme’s objectives.
Technical education remains an important part of efforts to address unemployment and expand economic opportunities. In Balochistan, employment-focused training could help young people develop skills needed by local industries and overseas employers. Access to relevant qualifications may also improve their chances of securing stable jobs.
The chief minister said practical training could help young people become financially independent and support their families. He also highlighted its potential contribution to the provincial economy.
The government’s plans include training 30,000 young people for overseas employment and preparing 25,000 trainees for domestic and international job opportunities by next year. Their success will depend on the quality of training, implementation progress, and the availability of suitable jobs.
