Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are witnessing improvments in their bilateral relations. The number of online visas issued to Pakistani nationals has reportedly returned to its previous pace.

According to highly placed diplomatic sources, the UAE government issues approximately 30,000 visas to Pakistanis every month. Travel agents are also facilitating additional visa applications through available channels.

The development indicates a positive shift in travel arrangements for Pakistani nationals. It also reflects improving ties between the two countries after recent challenges.

UAE Visa Situation Improves for Pakistani Nationals

Diplomatic sources said some Pakistanis were deported from the UAE in recent months. Their cases reportedly involved offences connected to regional conflict and acts of aggression against the country.

According to the sources, the UAE authorities took a lenient approach towards these individuals. Instead of sending them to prison or prosecuting them in court, the authorities directed them to leave the country.

Sources also stated that Pakistani immigrants have become more aware of the sensitivity surrounding these matters. As a result, no Pakistani nationals have reportedly been forced to leave the UAE in recent weeks.

Around 3,500 Pakistanis were deported from the country over recent months, according to the sources. However, approximately 2.2 million Pakistanis currently live and work in the UAE.

UAE Ambassador Contributes to Improving Bilateral Relations

The appointment of Salem Mohammed Al Zaabi as the UAE ambassador to Pakistan has also contributed to improving relations. Diplomatic sources described his role as constructive in strengthening ties between the two countries.

Pakistan and the UAE have maintained close relations since the Emirates was established in 1971. Their partnership covers several areas, including economic cooperation, strategic interests and cultural connections.

Both countries continue to share important interests in trade, investment and employment opportunities. The large Pakistani community in the Emirates remains a significant part of this relationship.

Remittances and Trade Support Economic Ties

Millions of Pakistanis working in the UAE contribute to Pakistan’s economy through financial remittances. These transfers provide important support to families and help strengthen the country’s foreign exchange inflows.

Trade between Pakistan and the UAE is estimated at around $8 billion. The economic relationship covers energy, consumer goods and real estate investments, among other sectors.

The large Pakistani workforce also plays an important role in maintaining economic connections between the two countries. Stable visa arrangements are therefore important for workers, businesses and families.

The reported return of monthly visa issuance to its previous pace could provide greater certainty for Pakistani nationals seeking travel and employment opportunities. It may also support continued cooperation between Islamabad and Abu Dhabi.
