Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Barrister Gohar has questioned the federal government’s decision to allocate Rs160 billion for development projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). He raised concerns about the timing of the announcement and the distribution of provincial funds.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Barrister Gohar asked why the province had not received the funds earlier. He questioned why the government allocated Rs160 billion within a week after the province had reportedly waited for the money.
He also claimed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had not received its due share under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award. He argued that development resources should be distributed according to public needs rather than political affiliations.
Barrister Gohar Questions Federal Government’s Decision
Barrister Gohar questioned whether the recent funding announcement suggested plans for a long-term federal presence in the province. He described such a possibility as unconstitutional.
He also asked why KP had to wait for a government acceptable to federal authorities before receiving development funds. According to him, resources should reach people based on their needs.
The PTI chairman warned against actions that could divide the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He stressed that political differences should not create divisions within the province.
His remarks followed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s announcement of Rs160 billion for development projects in KP. The prime minister also pledged cooperation with military leadership to address the province’s challenges.
PTI Chairman Raises Concerns About Party Members
Barrister Gohar also discussed the situation of PTI members during his media talk. He claimed that 14 PTI members of the National Assembly were in custody.
He further said several former provincial ministers were also detained. The PTI chairman cautioned against attempts to dismantle his party.
He argued that political polarisation could affect democracy and the federation. His comments reflected the party’s concerns about its political position and the treatment of its members.
Barrister Gohar Comments on PTI’s Relations With the Military
The PTI chairman said his party had no dispute with the Pakistan Army. He also paid tribute to the sacrifices made by military personnel.
Barrister Gohar said PTI did not want confrontation with the military. He alleged that a group within the government was trying to create divisions between the party and the establishment.
These remarks came as PTI planned political activities in Islamabad. He said the party intended to reach the capital peacefully and constitutionally.
According to Barrister Gohar, the purpose was to present the party’s position and raise slogans supporting Pakistan and PTI founder Imran Khan.
Shehbaz Sharif Announces Development Funding for KP
A day before Barrister Gohar’s remarks, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced Rs160 billion for development projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The prime minister also pledged to work with military leadership to address problems faced by residents. He said the province had suffered from years of unrest and neglect.
The funding announcement has brought attention to development priorities and the distribution of resources. Questions about the NFC Award, provincial needs, and the timing of the allocation remain central to the political debate.
Barrister Gohar has called for fair distribution of funds and raised concerns about the province’s treatment. The federal government’s announced development package is now a key focus of discussion surrounding KP’s future projects and public needs.
