Punjab's Model Graveyard Initiative Across Cities

In a significant endeavor to enhance burial facilities, the Punjab government has launched the construction of model graveyards in several cities, including Dera Ghazi Khan, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Rahim Yar Khan, and Sahiwal.

During a briefing to Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi about the ambitious initiative named “Shehr-e-Khamoshan,” the local government secretary announced a substantial reduction in burial fees at these model cemeteries. The fees have been lowered from Rs. 10,000 to a more affordable Rs. 3,500, ensuring accessible and cost-effective resting places for loved ones.

To further improve accessibility, citizens can utilize a dedicated ambulance service for these graveyards by dialing 1190.

The flagship model graveyard, sprawling over 127 kanals of land, is strategically located along Sundar Road in Raiwind. It boasts modern amenities, including a boundary wall, dedicated funeral facilities, and ablution facilities. With a capacity exceeding 12,000 graves, this facility is well-prepared to meet the growing needs of the community.

In parallel efforts to address the concerns of farmers, the caretaker Chief Minister has called for recommendations to create a special package aimed at providing essential facilities and support to the farming community. This underscores the government’s commitment to improving the overall quality of life for its citizens.
