KARACHI: A Karachi consumer files a Rs3.5 million damages lawsuit against a refrigerator company and an electronics dealer over a warranty dispute.

According to ARY News, the case was filed at the Consumer Court on Friday, November 6, 2026.

The complainant, Yasir Ashfaq, accused the company and dealer of selling a defective refrigerator and failing to honour warranty commitments.

The lawsuit also includes allegations of fraud, financial loss, and mental distress.

Karachi Consumer Files Lawsuit Over Rs102,000 Refrigerator

According to the complaint, Yasir Ashfaq purchased a refrigerator for Rs102,000 from an electronics dealer in Karachi.

The shop was located at Hashoo Centre in Saddar, one of the city’s major commercial areas.

The customer reportedly received a purchase receipt mentioning a warranty for the refrigerator.

However, the dealer allegedly failed to provide an official warranty card despite the warranty details appearing on the receipt.

The missing warranty card later became a major issue when the customer approached the company.

According to the plaintiff’s lawyer, Usman Farooq, the company refused to recognise the shop as an authorised dealer.

This response raised concerns about the warranty’s validity and the dealer’s representations during the purchase.

Customer Demands Rs3.5 Million in Compensation

The Karachi consumer files the damages claim seeking Rs3.5 million in compensation for the alleged losses.

The plaintiff claims that the defective refrigerator and warranty dispute caused financial difficulties and mental distress.

His lawyer argued that selling defective products and failing to fulfil warranty promises could constitute unlawful business practices.

The complaint also alleges that the company and dealer misled the customer regarding the product’s warranty coverage.

The plaintiff has requested legal action against both parties over the alleged misrepresentation.

However, the allegations remain subject to examination by the court.

Consumer Court Seeks Responses From Company and Dealer

After hearing the initial arguments, the Consumer Court issued directions to the company and electronics dealer.

Both parties have been asked to submit their responses at the next hearing.

The court will examine the claims and responses before deciding how the case should proceed.

No final judgment or compensation award has been reported so far.

The case highlights concerns about product warranties, authorised dealerships, and consumer protection in Karachi.

It also draws attention to the importance of proper purchase documentation when buying expensive household appliances.

Consumers may face difficulties claiming warranty services when dealers fail to provide the required documents.

The outcome will depend on the evidence presented and the court’s assessment of the allegations.
