In a notable move, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially appointed the former spinner, Tauseef Ahmed, as the interim chief selector in preparation for the upcoming Australia series, scheduled to occur later this year.
Tauseef Ahmed, who previously served as a part of the selection panel under the leadership of Inzamam-ul-Haq, has been entrusted with the significant responsibility of handpicking the team that will represent Pakistan in the imminent series.

This appointment follows closely on the heels of Inzamam-ul-Haq’s resignation from his position as the Chairman of the national men’s selection committee and junior selection committee. Inzamam-ul-Haq stepped down amidst reports alleging his connection with a UK-based player agency.
In his statement regarding the resignation, Inzamam-ul-Haq stated, “I am relinquishing my post to allow the PCB the opportunity to conduct a transparent inquiry into the conflict of interest allegations that have arisen in the media. If the committee exonerates me, I will resume my role as the chief selector.”
Subsequent to Inzamam-ul-Haq’s departure, the PCB promptly established a five-member fact-finding committee tasked with investigating the allegations concerning conflicts of interest reported in the media, specifically in the context of the team selection process.
As of now, the committee is yet to present its findings on this matter. The PCB’s appointment of Tauseef Ahmed as the interim chief selector underscores the board’s commitment to maintaining a seamless transition and continuity in the selection process, while they await the committee’s conclusions.
