Pakistan's Iran Strike: Unveiling the Weaponry Details

In response to Iran’s violation of its airspace, Pakistan executed a recent military operation, deploying advanced weaponry under the codename ‘Marg Bar Sarmachar.’ This operation, aimed at terrorist hideouts in Iran’s Siestan-o-Baluchistan province, involved precise and coordinated military strikes resulting in the elimination of several terrorists, as announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The swift retaliation occurred within 48 hours of Iran’s incursion into Pakistan, where they targeted alleged bases of the militant group Jaish al-Adl in the border town of Panjgur in Balochistan. The Iranian strikes caused multiple civilian casualties, prompting Pakistan to recall its ambassador to Iran and advising the Iranian ambassador not to return temporarily.

Pakistan expressed longstanding concerns about safe havens for Pakistani-origin terrorists within Iran, revealing frustration over the lack of action despite sharing multiple dossiers with concrete evidence. The tension between the two countries escalated further with this recent military exchange.

The weaponry utilized by the Pakistan Armed Forces included JF-17 Thunders equipped with REK standoff precision-guided munitions, Wing Loong II drones employing precision-guided munitions, loitering munitions from ground and air drones, F-16s using precision-guided bombs, and A-100 MLRS artillery rockets.

The primary strike package involved JF-17 Thunder fighter jets from the No. 2 β€˜Minhasians’ Multirole Squadron, stationed at the PAF Base Masroor in Karachi. The Precision Guided Munition (PGM) used in the airstrikes was the GIDS B-REK, a rocket-boosted glide bomb precision-guided weapon with a range of 170 kilometers.

These details about the weaponry were shared by the STRATCOM Bureau, Pakistan Strategic Forum’s (PSF) division, an independent think tank managed by an international team of intelligence researchers. Meanwhile, Sistan and Baluchistan province’s deputy governor, Alireza Marhamati, confirmed Pakistan’s airstrikes in its territory, reporting the unfortunate deaths of seven foreign nationals, including three women and four children.
