An Islamabad anti-terrorism court on Monday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
Judge Tahir Abbas Supra, presiding over cases from Sangjani and I-9 police stations involving Gandapur and others, issued the warrant. Defendants Ali Nawaz Awan, Wasif Qayyum, and Amir Kiani attended court, but Gandapur and Amir Mughal’s exemption pleas were rejected due to frequent absences since April 2024.

Judge Supra criticized the irregular appearances, stating, “This has turned into a spectacle; one appears while two do not. Arrest warrants are being issued for absent defendants.” He warned that further absence on July 8 would lead to fugitive status, emphasizing a flexible approach to the 30-day fugitive declaration period.
The judge assured cases would proceed or be dismissed based on merit, with daily hearings scheduled post July 8. Gandapur’s exemption plea was denied, and the court sought a response from Adiala Jail on facilitating PTI founder’s video-linked appearance, adjourning both cases until July 8.
