The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) organized a Protest rally in Larkana on Sunday against what it described as India’s water aggression and the alleged violation of the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT). The demonstration attracted a large number of party workers and supporters who gathered to express concern over water-related issues.
Participants carried banners and raised slogans in support of protecting Pakistan’s water rights. One of the main slogans heard during the rally was “Merso, Merso, Sindhu, Na Deso,” reflecting the participants’ demand to safeguard the Indus River.
The Protest was led by local PPP leaders and attended by party activists from different parts of the district. Organizers said the rally was intended to highlight concerns regarding India’s actions related to the Indus Waters Treaty and to draw public attention to the issue.
PPP Sindh President Nisar Ahmed addressed the gathering and announced that similar rallies would be organized across Sindh. He said the party would continue raising the issue through peaceful public demonstrations in different cities of the province.
According to party leaders, the campaign aims to increase awareness about the importance of Pakistan’s water resources and the need to protect them under international agreements.
During the Protest, participants alleged that India was violating the Indus Waters Treaty. They urged the international community to take notice of the situation and called for greater attention to the issue at the global level.
Speakers at the rally stressed the importance of the Indus River for agriculture, drinking water, and the country’s economy. They said protecting water resources is essential for the future of Pakistan.
The Indus Waters Treaty, signed in 1960, governs the sharing of water from the Indus River system between Pakistan and India. It has remained one of the key agreements regulating water distribution between the two neighboring countries.
PPP leaders said they would continue using democratic and peaceful means to voice their concerns. They emphasized that public awareness and national unity are important in addressing issues related to water security.
The rally remained peaceful throughout its duration. Participants marched through designated routes while raising slogans and carrying placards. Security personnel were also present to maintain law and order during the event.
Party officials said the demonstrations would continue in other districts of Sindh in the coming days. They believe expanding the campaign will help draw wider public attention to the issue.
The latest Protest reflects the PPP’s position on water-related concerns and its demand for strict implementation of the Indus Waters Treaty. The party maintains that protecting Pakistan’s water interests should remain a national priority.

PPP leaders say they will continue urging authorities and the international community to focus on the treaty and the management of shared water resources between the two countries.
