Bano Butt, a Pakistani MMA fighter, claimed a gold medal in the 2024 Asian Championship by defeating Gulnaz Abdrakhmanova in the atomweight category.
The 20-year-old fighter from Pakistan advanced to the final after a split decision victory against India’s Khushboo Nishad in the semi-final and secured her win in the final through a unanimous decision.

The Asian Championship, held in Lahore, Pakistan, featured over 100 fighters and was organized by The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF).
Bano Butt, an emerging MMA talent from Pakistan, brought pride to her nation by becoming the first Pakistani to win a gold medal in IMMAF at such a young age on an international platform.
Pakistan’s team earned a total of six medals at the Asian Championship. Following Bano’s gold medal, Eman Khan also claimed a gold medal for Pakistan by defeating Kazakhstan’s Dinara Ayapova in the women’s flyweight division final.
In addition to the two gold medals, Pakistan secured four bronze medals across different divisions. Bushra Akhtar, Zulqarnain Khan, Asghar Khan, Abdul Sami, Taimur Chishty, and Muhammad Aroz Saleem Baig won bronze in the women’s strawweight, senior men’s middleweight, senior men’s flyweight, junior men’s middleweight, junior men’s welterweight, and junior men’s featherweight divisions, respectively.
