Ford, in collaboration with Scottish company Ceres Holographics, recently introduced advanced holographic head-up display (HUD) technology that could revolutionize the driving experience. The new system expands the traditional HUD across the windshield, providing both drivers and passengers with separate, interactive displays.
This next-gen HUD integrates essential driving information like speed and navigation for the driver, while the passenger could view projected video or other entertainment without distracting the driver. The windshield uses a special film developed by Ceres, enabling a clear and transparent display of data.

Ford’s new technology aims to tackle the growing issue of driver distraction caused by touchscreens, offering a safer way to interact with in-car systems. While this holographic system is still in the prototype phase, it has shown promise in early testing, and Ford plans to optimize its clarity, brightness, and resolution before full implementation.
With other automakers also investing in HUD advancements, Ford’s collaboration with Ceres Holographics could lead the industry in reducing distractions while enhancing vehicle interactivity.
