On Friday, Pakistan observed Namaz-e-Istaqa, a special prayer for rain, across the country in response to the persistent smog that has been affecting large parts of the nation. At the historic Badshahi Mosque in Lahore, Khatib Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad led the prayer after the Friday prayers. A significant number of worshippers gathered, praying collectively for an end to the smog and for rainfall to help alleviate the hazardous environmental conditions.

In Islamabad, the federal capital, the prayer was organized at Kohsar Block, following instructions from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Special prayers were offered, and both federal and provincial authorities were directed to hold similar prayer congregations across the country, highlighting the urgent need for divine intervention to address the ongoing environmental crisis. The smog has led to deteriorating air quality, affecting public health and daily life, prompting these collective efforts to seek relief through prayer.
