Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) has dismissed as “unfounded and irrational” recent remarks by US Deputy National Security Adviser Jon Finer, who labeled Pakistan’s missile program an “emerging threat” to the United States.
In a statement issued Saturday, FO spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch emphasized that Pakistan’s strategic capabilities are designed to ensure peace and stability in South Asia, not to threaten the US. She criticized the allegations, calling them “devoid of historical context and rationality.”

Finer had claimed that Pakistan’s advanced missile technology, including long-range ballistic systems, could pose a future threat to the US. He also linked these developments to new sanctions on Pakistan’s defense programs.
The FO pointed out that such claims ignore the broader context of regional threats and appear biased. Pakistan reiterated its commitment to maintaining credible minimum deterrence and safeguarding its sovereignty.
Calling for constructive engagement, the FO stressed that Pakistan values its relationship with the US and hopes to strengthen cooperation rather than amplify misunderstandings.
