Check Details: UAE Allows 90-Day Stay Without Sponsorship for Visitors

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has launched a new multi-entry visit visa, offering increased flexibility for foreign nationals who want to visit their family and friends. This initiative, which does not require a local sponsor or guarantor, is expected to significantly ease the process for expatriates, particularly Pakistanis, who often encounter difficulties when applying for family or personal visit visas.

The new visa system provides options for stays of 30, 60, or 90 days, allowing individuals to travel without the usual sponsorship requirements. This change is particularly beneficial for families seeking to reunite and for friends who want to spend time together in the UAE, making visits more accessible than ever.

The visa is available to foreign nationals who wish to visit close family members, such as parents, children, siblings, or spouses. Applicants must provide proof of their relationship, such as marriage or birth certificates. The visa is also open to friends, but only if they have a legitimate reason for visiting, like attending important events or spending quality time with close associates. This move has been welcomed by expatriate communities, especially Pakistanis, who previously had to deal with extensive paperwork and sponsorship issues when visiting family members in the UAE.

To apply, individuals can submit their applications via the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) website, mobile app, or at service centers across the UAE. The application process is relatively simple and requires the following documents:

  • A valid passport with at least six months of validity
  • Two recent passport-sized photographs
  • Proof of financial stability
  • Employment or business documentation, such as a salary certificate or business license
  • Visa fees and charges

Visa fees depend on the duration of stay:

  • 30-day visa: AED 300 (approximately Rs 22,755)
  • 60-day visa: AED 500 (approximately Rs 37,925)
  • 90-day visa: AED 700 (approximately Rs 53,095)

Applicants must also pay a refundable deposit of AED 2,000 (around Rs 151,700) as financial security. Minor administrative fees apply, and mandatory medical insurance is required, costing between AED 40 and AED 90 (approximately Rs 3,034 to Rs 6,825), depending on the visa’s length.

This initiative by the UAE government is expected to strengthen family connections and promote personal visits, especially for expatriates who previously struggled with the need for a local sponsor. The new system will particularly benefit Pakistani nationals, making it easier for them to visit their families in the UAE without the previous complications.

Experts believe that the scheme will also promote social cohesion within expatriate communities, benefiting various nationalities and fostering stronger community bonds. Additionally, it is anticipated to have economic advantages, particularly for sectors like tourism, hospitality, retail, and leisure, by encouraging longer visits and boosting spending.
