India’s vice-captain Shubman Gill made history on Wednesday, becoming the fastest batsman to reach 2500 ODI runs, surpassing Hashim Amla’s record. Playing his 50th ODI at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Gill reached the milestone in just 10 overs.

The 25-year-old continued his fine form, scoring 111 off 102 balls before being dismissed by Adil Rashid. He also climbed to No. 2 in the ICC rankings, just behind Babar Azam, who is close to his own record in Pakistan’s clash with South Africa.
