The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics has reported a significant drop in the weekly inflation rate, which now stands at 8.3%, offering some relief to consumers facing rising living costs. The latest figures show a mixed trend in the prices of essential goods, with 14 items seeing price hikes, 11 becoming cheaper, and 26 remaining stable.
The report reveals a 0.83% decrease in the weekly inflation rate, while the annual inflation rate has dropped by 2.81%, signaling an overall decline in consumer prices.

Items That Became More Expensive:
Several everyday essentials experienced price hikes, including LPG cylinders, which rose by Rs21.36, and daal channa, which increased by Rs4.95 per kilogram. Other items like curd, sugar, jaggery, daal maash, beef, and certain clothing items also saw slight price increases.
Items That Became Cheaper:
On the other hand, several goods saw notable price reductions. Garlic prices dropped by Rs81.48 per kilogram, while broiler chicken became cheaper by Rs43.80, and tomatoes saw a decrease of Rs10.52/kg. Other items like onions, eggs, bananas, wheat flour, and potatoes also became more affordable, easing some of the financial pressure on households.
The report further highlights that 26 essential commodities maintained stable prices over the past week, indicating some consistency in the market.
