Actor Ahad Raza Mir recently offered a refreshing take on handling fame and fan expectations during an appearance on the YouTube podcast Sunday Times. Instead of being weighed down by the pressure to preach through his work, Ahad believes storytelling should be about uplifting the audience.
“You don’t always need to deliver a social message,” he said. “Just tell stories that make people feel good.” Ahad, who just wrapped up his drama Meem Se Mohabbat, added that while every story may hold a lesson, his goal is simply to let audiences experience emotions freely, without forcing a message.

With a diverse portfolio ranging from stage to screen, Ahad values acting deeply. “I’d go crazy without acting,” he said, crediting his success to the talented colleagues he’s worked with. Although he enjoys romance, comedy, and thrillers, he stays away from horror, admitting, “I get scared – I don’t like anything that spoils your mood.”
Ahad also noted that Pakistani drama audiences have become more global, with non-Urdu speakers enjoying shows through subtitles. As the industry evolves, he feels new voices are bringing much-needed change. “Trends are shifting, and we have to grow with them,” he shared.
Ahad is next set to appear with Iqra Aziz in Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo, Pakistan’s first Netflix original series, expected to release in June.
