In a significant diplomatic breakthrough, India and Pakistan have agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire”, following high-level talks reportedly mediated by the United States.
The announcement was made late last night by U.S. President Donald Trump via a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, and was later confirmed by Pakistani authorities.

President Trump stated:
“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE. Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
The unexpected but welcomed development has been hailed as a major step toward reducing tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Ishaq Dar, also confirmed the ceasefire agreement in an official statement, saying:
“Pakistan has always strived for peace and security in the region, without compromising on its sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
He emphasized that Pakistan remained committed to maintaining regional stability and welcomed the role of the international community in facilitating dialogue.
While there has been no official word yet from New Delhi, diplomatic sources suggest that Indian representatives were part of the closed-door discussions brokered by Washington.
Tensions between India and Pakistan have periodically escalated over the years, especially over the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir, often resulting in cross-border shelling and military stand-offs. The latest development, if sustained, could signal a thaw in relations and a possible path toward sustained peace in South Asia.
Analysts and peace advocates around the world have cautiously welcomed the news, urging both nations to continue dialogue and confidence-building measures in the days ahead.
