One of the largest data breaches in recent times has exposed sensitive information, including passwords, of over 180 million users worldwide, affecting major companies like Google, Facebook, and Apple.
In response, Pakistanโs National Cyber Emergency Response Team (N-CERT) has issued an urgent warning to individuals and organizations across the country. The breach also includes data from government websites and popular social media platforms such as Instagram and Snapchat.

N-CERT highlighted that the stolen data is currently stored in an unsecured database, making it vulnerable to automated cyberattacks that could lead to identity theft, account hacking, and other cyber threats.
The advisory stresses that both private users and government institutions, including financial services, face significant risks and must act immediately. Pakistani users are strongly advised to change their passwords promptly and activate two-factor authentication for enhanced security.
Users are cautioned against sharing passwords via email or saving them in insecure files. The advisory recommends using reliable password managers to protect credentials and regularly updating antivirus and security software.
N-CERT also urged users to stay alert for any unusual account activity and report suspicious incidents quickly. Government departments and critical organizations have been instructed to identify affected users and communicate with them promptly.
The advisory warned that neglecting these security precautions could compromise the countryโs digital infrastructure and disrupt essential services. Cybersecurity experts have emphasized the need for increased vigilance, as automated attacks targeting the compromised data are expected to rise in the near future.
