Kidnapped Ziarat AC and Son Found Dead in Balochistan

Kidnapped Ziarat AC and Son Found Dead in Balochistan

The assistant commissioner of Ziarat, Muhammad Afzal, and his teenage son were killed after being kidnapped by armed men. Their bodies were found in a remote area of Harnai, according to Levies officials.

Authorities confirmed the bodies were dumped in the rugged terrain near Zard Aloo. On the directives of Additional Secretary Home, Hamza Shafqat, a joint search operation was carried out. Police, Levies, Frontier Corps, and district administration teams, led by Additional Deputy Commissioner Harnai Saleem Tareen, took part in the recovery.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti strongly condemned the killings. He called the incident an attack on peace in the province and vowed that the culprits would not escape justice. The chief minister also paid tribute to Muhammad Afzal and his son, describing their deaths as a sacrifice for peace in Balochistan.

The tragic incident occurred on August 10. Assistant Commissioner Afzal was on a picnic with his family in the Zizari area of Ziarat when armed men intercepted them. The kidnappers abducted Afzal, his 16-year-old son Muhammad Bilal, a driver, and a bodyguard. The driver and bodyguard were later freed, but Afzal and his son were taken to an unknown location.

The discovery of their bodies has caused shock and grief across the province. Officials stressed that operations will continue until those behind the killings are brought to justice. The incident highlights ongoing security challenges in remote areas of Balochistan, especially near Ziarat, which is often visited for its natural beauty but has seen rising threats from armed groups.

The provincial government has assured that law enforcement agencies will intensify efforts to restore peace. The deaths of the Ziarat assistant commissioner and his son remain a grim reminder of the sacrifices made by public servants in the region.
