ISLAMABAD β The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has issued an arrest warrant for PTI leader Asad Qaiser in connection with the Judicial Complex Attack case. The case also involves PTI founder and several senior party leaders.
ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra heard the case on Monday and directed that former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser be arrested and produced before the court. The case, registered at the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police station, accuses several PTI leaders of participating in the attack on the Judicial Complex.
While issuing the arrest warrant for Asad Qaiser, the court granted exemptions to other senior PTI leaders, including Parvez Elahi, Asad Umar, and Shibli Faraz. These leaders were allowed to skip personal appearances during the hearing after their counsels submitted formal exemption applications citing valid reasons.
The ATC also noted that the Law Ministry has yet to respond to a letter concerning the PTI founder. Judge Sipra adjourned the hearing until October 6, when the court will resume proceedings and review compliance with the arrest orders.
Asad Qaiser, a prominent PTI figure, has been at the center of multiple legal proceedings related to the partyβs actions in recent months. The Judicial Complex Attack case is among the high-profile investigations currently under judicial scrutiny.
The arrest warrant marks a significant development in the case, signaling the courtβs firm stance on ensuring accountability. Authorities are expected to carry out the courtβs orders in the coming days.
Political analysts note that the case involving Asad Qaiser and other PTI leaders may have wider implications for the partyβs leadership and ongoing legal challenges. Observers are closely monitoring how the PTI responds to the ATC directives.
The next hearing, scheduled for October 6, will be crucial in determining the compliance of Asad Qaiser and other leaders with the courtβs orders and may set the tone for future proceedings.
