Pakistan, China Boost Cooperation In Toy Industry

Pakistan and China are stepping up cooperation in the toy industry, aiming to expand trade and industrial collaboration. Sardar Muhammad, Consul of the Pakistani Consulate in Guangzhou, recently visited Chenghai, Shantou, and met with leading representatives of the local toy industry.

The visit followed a Chinese delegation’s tour of Pakistan in August, signaling continued momentum in bilateral ties. During his meetings, the consul held discussions with Guangdong Hongteng Business Exhibition Co., Ltd., Shantou Haiyang Toy Trading Co., Ltd., and the Shantou Chenghai Toy Association.

China remains the global leader in toy production, while Pakistan is positioning itself as both a growing market and a traditional manufacturing base seeking revival. Experts believe closer cooperation could benefit both countries, particularly as demand for diverse and innovative products grows worldwide.

Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Muhammad noted that Pakistan’s youthful population and strategic location offer valuable opportunities for the toy industry. He stressed that both countries’ complementary strengths could help unlock new areas of trade.

The Chinese delegation that visited Pakistan in August engaged with the All Pakistan Toy Association and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry. They conducted detailed market research in Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad, finding clear differences in consumer behavior.

According to the Shantou Chenghai Toy Association, Lahore’s market is dominated by mid- to low-end products with high price sensitivity. In contrast, Islamabad shows demand for a wider range of toys that appeal to different consumer groups. Educational and smart toys are gaining popularity across Pakistan, with wholesale channels leading distribution.

Both sides have signed a memorandum of understanding to boost trade and cultural exchanges in the toy industry. Pakistani businesses are also preparing to participate in the 24th Shantou Chenghai International Toy & Gift Fair this October, a step expected to enhance Pakistan’s presence in the global toy trade.
