The ceremony, held in Islamabad, was attended by Chairman of the Prime Ministerβs Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, senior officials, students, and alumni from earlier phases of the Youth Laptop Scheme. A guard of honour was presented to the recipients by the Islamabad Capital Territory Police, followed by documentaries highlighting the success stories of students from the 2023 and 2024 phases.
Addressing the event, Prime Minister Shehbaz described the launch as a milestone in Pakistanβs journey toward youth empowerment. He said the Youth Laptop Scheme reflects his long-term vision, first initiated in 2010 as Chief Minister of Punjab, to promote education, technology, fine arts, and sports.
Despite challenges such as natural disasters and economic difficulties, the prime minister emphasized that βnot a single penny was cut from youth development funds,β underscoring the governmentβs unwavering focus on education and innovation.
Shehbaz Sharif also highlighted Pakistanβs growing involvement in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and semiconductor manufacturing. He said these advancements represent a βbright technological futureβ for the nation and its youth.
βThis programme is not for personal recognition but for the young citizens who are the architects of our nationβs future,β he said. The new slogan β Youth of Pakistan: Making Pakistan Great β reflects this vision of progress and merit.
Since 2011, more than 100,000 laptops have been distributed on merit under the scheme, with an investment of Rs40β50 billion.
