Is India Behind Deadly Suicide Bombing at Islamabad Judicial Complex?

ISLAMABAD – A deadly suicide bombing outside the G-11 Judicial Complex in Islamabad has left at least 12 people dead and over a dozen injured, officials confirmed on Tuesday. The suspected attacker’s body was recovered from the scene as security agencies swiftly moved in to secure the area.

Eyewitnesses described the suicide bombing as a massive explosion that struck near the entrance of the complex, hitting bystanders and causing widespread panic. Emergency services and rescue teams rushed to the site, transporting the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Initial reports suggest the suicide bombing may be linked to a wider network of cross-border terrorism, with some intelligence sources hinting at foreign-backed elements, including groups operating from Afghanistan. Authorities have launched a full-scale investigation to trace the perpetrators behind the attack.

This latest incident comes amid a worrying increase in terrorist activities across Pakistan since the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in August 2021. Data shows that the number of terrorist incidents rose from 207 in 2021 to over 1,000 in 2024, underscoring the deteriorating security situation in the region.

Security sources have identified multiple terrorist training camps and safe havens in Afghanistan belonging to groups such as the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). Officials claim these groups continue to operate with the knowledge of certain Afghan authorities.

Since June 2025, nearly 4,000 militants have reportedly infiltrated Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, while Balochistan has witnessed infiltration from several Afghan border provinces, including Zabul, Kandahar, and Helmand.

Pakistani security forces have intensified counter-terrorism operations, neutralizing hundreds of militants in recent months. Despite these efforts, experts warn that suicide attacks remain one of the most challenging threats, often carried out by foreign-trained operatives targeting both civilians and security forces.
