As the shift to electric vehicles accelerates, leading automakers are embracing EV technology to meet rising consumer demand, including in Pakistan.

Lucky Motor Corp. plans to introduce Kia’s new electric vehicle lineup in Pakistan later this year, featuring models like the EV5, EV9, and updated versions of the Sportage and Sorento.

The Kia EV5 is an electric SUV with a range of up to 665 km, while the EV9, designed for advanced electric mobility, accommodates up to seven passengers and supports ultra-fast charging with 400V and 800V systems. The EV9 has won the ‘World Electric Vehicle’ and ‘World Car of the Year’ awards for 2024.

Pakistan’s electric vehicle policy, introduced a couple of years ago, aims to boost EV adoption and lower the nation’s carbon footprint.

It offers incentives such as reduced customs duties, tax exemptions, and subsidies, promotes the development of charging infrastructure, and supports local EV and component manufacturing to enhance the domestic automotive industry.
