On Friday, Pakistan and Abu Dhabi Ports Group signed four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including rail, airport infrastructure, and maritime shipping and logistics.
The MoUs were signed during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and a high-level UAE delegation, led by UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi. The exchange of MoUs, covering maritime affairs, aviation, railways, and the Federal Board of Revenue, was witnessed by the Prime Minister.

The agreements aim to explore collaboration in customs, rail infrastructure, airport development, and maritime logistics. The focus includes improving digital customs processes, establishing dedicated freight rail corridors, upgrading Pakistan’s maritime fleet, and modernizing its international airports.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to UAE leaders for their continued support and highlighted the strong economic ties between the two countries in trade, energy, and investment. He emphasized that UAE investments would play a pivotal role in boosting Pakistan’s economy.
The UAE delegation also included officials from the Kaheel Group, Abu Dhabi Ports Group, and the UAE Embassy in Pakistan, while the Pakistani side was represented by senior government ministers and officials.
In related news, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government’s commitment to achieving $25 billion in IT exports within the next three years. He discussed efforts to introduce 5G services, aiming to improve connectivity across Pakistan, and emphasized the government’s willingness to collaborate with companies like VEON Group in the fields of IT, digitization, and artificial intelligence.
