Nawaz Stresses Full Mandate for Issue Resolution

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif emphasized the importance of a political party securing a “full mandate” in the general elections to effectively address the nation’s issues. Speaking to the media after casting his vote in the provincial capital, Sharif highlighted that Pakistan’s problems could only be resolved when one party gained a majority, eliminating the need for coalition governments.

Sharif expressed his belief that granting a single party full mandate would put an end to the prevalent culture of using abusive language in politics, making people’s lives easier, controlling inflation, and leading the nation towards prosperity. He asserted that this vision, shattered in the past, would be realized to bring rights to the people’s doorsteps.

Pakistan faces numerous challenges, including a fragile economy, political instability, terrorism, unemployment, inflation, power and gas shortages, and healthcare issues. The country’s debt has escalated significantly, and it must address substantial foreign debt payments in the coming years.

Despite these challenges, none of the political parties presented a clear roadmap to address them during the election campaigns. Additionally, the election day witnessed the suspension of mobile and internet services across the country, drawing criticism from organizations like Amnesty International, which condemned the move as a “reckless attack on people’s rights” and a violation of freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.
