Imran Khan Called By Court For GHQ Attack

Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister and founder of the PTI, faces legal proceedings as he has been summoned by an anti-terrorism court in relation to the attack on General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi that occurred on May 9, 2023. The Anti-Terrorism Court Rawalpindi, under the supervision of Judge Malik Ijaz Asif, is overseeing the legal proceedings against Khan, who is specifically accused in all cases related to the May 9 vandalism. He has been directed to appear in court on January 9 to address the charges.

In connection to the GHQ attack case, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the second in line to Imran Khan, had previously been taken into custody by Punjab police after his release from Adiala Jail. The charges against Khan include his alleged involvement in the May 9 violence, prompting the initiation of a probe by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT).

The JIT decided to name Imran Khan in terrorism cases associated with the attack on the army headquarters. Additional charges of plotting and incitement to violence were later added to the cases against the PTI chief.

Furthermore, an indictment of Imran Khan and his wife Bushra is scheduled for January 10. The legal actions against Imran Khan unfold amid a series of events that involve various political figures facing consequences related to the GHQ attack case.
