Bumrah likely to lead India in first Test against Australia

Rohit Sharma is expected to miss the opening Test of the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy, starting November 22 in Perth, as he spends time with family following the birth of his second child.

Reports indicate Sharma will join the team ahead of the second Test in Adelaide, preferring to participate in the tour match in Canberra on November 30 for better preparation.

In his absence, vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah is likely to lead the team. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill has also been ruled out of the first Test due to a thumb injury sustained during a practice match.

  • First Test: November 22, Perth
  • Second Test: December 6-10, Adelaide
  • Third Test: December 14-18, Brisbane
  • Boxing Day Test: December 26-30, Melbourne
  • Fifth Test: January 3-7, Sydney
