KARACHI: A case has been registered against TV host and actor Sahir Lodhi over an alleged Rs40 million investment dispute.
The case also names his associate Faisal Zia. A widow has accused both men of allegedly obtaining money under the pretext of investment. The case was registered at Shah Latif Town Police Station. The complaint was filed by Naghma Wakeel, a resident of Majeed Colony in Landhi.
According to FIR No. 1569/2026, Wakeel said she was introduced to Sahir Gohar Lodhi through Faisal Lashkar Wala.
She alleged that she handed over Rs40 million to Sahir Lodhi for investment purposes. She later sought repayment of the amount.
According to her statement, Lodhi initially returned Rs250,000. She said he later paid another Rs400,000. The complainant also alleged that Lodhi issued seven cheques for repayment. The cheques reportedly carried amounts between Rs800,000 and Rs900,000.
Wakeel said she deposited the cheques at the Quaidabad branch. However, she alleged that all seven cheques were dishonoured on their due dates.
She then informed Sahir Lodhi about the failed payments. According to the complaint, he later issued another cheque worth Rs4.4 million.
The complainant alleged that the Rs4.4 million cheque also failed to clear. She subsequently contacted Lodhi again regarding the outstanding amount. According to the FIR, his associate Faisal Zia then issued a cheque for Rs20 million. Wakeel alleged that this cheque was also dishonoured by the bank.
The complainant said she made several attempts to recover her money. However, she alleged that the dispute remained unresolved.
Wakeel subsequently approached the court seeking legal intervention. She filed an application before the District and Sessions Judge Malir. The application was submitted under Sections 22-A and 22-B of the Code of Criminal Procedure. She requested directions for registration of a case.
Following the court’s order, police registered the case against Sahir Lodhi and Faisal Zia. Authorities have also launched an investigation into the allegations.
Police will now examine the claims and available evidence. The investigation is expected to determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged financial dispute.
The allegations against Sahir Lodhi and Faisal Zia have not been proven in court. Their final legal status will depend on the investigation and subsequent proceedings.
