Court Cancels Bail of Actress Nazish Jahangir in Fraud Case

Nazish Jahangir

A Lahore session court has cancelled the interim bail of actress Nazish Jahangir in a fraud case registered at the Defence C police station. The court dismissed her bail plea on Friday due to non-pursuance, as Jahangir did not adequately address the court’s requirements.

The fraud allegations stem from a complaint filed by fellow actress Azan Aswad Haroon, who accused Jahangir of borrowing Rs 2.5 million and a car for two months. According to Haroon, despite the agreed-upon timeline, neither the money nor the vehicle was returned after the two-month period elapsed.

While Jahangir’s bail was cancelled, the court extended the interim bail of her co-accused, Sikandar, until the first week of October. The case has drawn attention within the entertainment industry, highlighting the legal challenges faced by celebrities in Pakistan.

This incident is not the first legal trouble for Nazish Jahangir. In 2020, she was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cybercrime wing for charges related to blackmail and harassment. This prior case involved allegations of disseminating fake videos and posts, alongside actor Mohsin Abbas Haider, which further complicates her legal history.
