‘Stree 2’ Day 12 Box Office Update: Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor Film Nearly Rs 35 Crore Away from KGF 2 Record

Filmmaker Amar Kaushik’s horror-comedy sequel capitalized on the partial holiday on its second Monday, sustaining its box office performance. “Stree 2,” starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, earned Rs 17 crore on its 12th day, according to industry tracker Sacnilk, though this represented a steeper decline than anticipated.

Despite the modest Monday collections, the film had a record-breaking second weekend, securing the highest second Sunday earnings ever for a Hindi film with Rs 40.75 crore, surpassing the previous record held by “Gadar 2” at Rs 38.9 crore. On Monday, the film’s earnings dropped by 60%, bringing its total to over Rs 420 crore in India.

In terms of the best 11-day performance for a Hindi film, Shah Rukh Khan’s “Jawan” leads with Rs 430.44 crore, followed by “Stree 2,” which joined the Rs 400 crore club on its 11th day.

The horror-comedy is now set to chase the Hindi box office record held by Yash’s “KGF Chapter 2,” which earned Rs 435 crore in total. “Stree 2” is expected to surpass this figure in the coming days and potentially enter the Rs 500 crore club by the end of the week.

Once “Stree 2” reaches the Rs 500 crore milestone, it will surpass Ranbir Kapoor’s “Animal” (Rs 505 crore) and aim to challenge other top box office records, including “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion” (Rs 511 crore), “Pathaan” (Rs 524 crore), “Gadar 2” (Rs 525 crore), and “Jawan,” which currently holds the top spot with Rs 584 crore.

“Stree 2” is approximately Rs 165 crore short of breaking “Jawan’s” all-time record. The film, which also features Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, and Pankaj Tripathi, will benefit from a relatively open market for the rest of September. Apart from Kangana Ranaut’s “Emergency,” Siddhant Chaturvedi’s “Yudhra,” and Kareena Kapoor’s “The Buckingham Murders,” there are few major releases scheduled for the month.
