Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has officially stepped away from the much-anticipated film Don 3. The project was being directed by Farhan Akhtar. The decision came after creative differences between the actor and the makers.
According to reports, Ranveer Singh had a different vision for the film. He reportedly wanted a more intense and modern version of the character. His idea included stronger language and a more violent tone.
However, director Farhan Akhtar did not agree with these changes. He believed the Don franchise should maintain its original style. The earlier versions featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan did not rely on abusive language.
Sources said Farhan Akhtar wanted to stay true to his original concept. He was not willing to change the core style of the film. This disagreement created a gap between both sides.
As a result, Ranveer Singh decided to exit the project. The actor reportedly stepped away in 2025 after ongoing discussions failed to reach a solution.
At the time, Ranveer Singh was also enjoying success from his spy thriller projects. His busy schedule and creative expectations added pressure to the situation.
Earlier reports suggested financial negotiations also took place. Excel Entertainment reportedly demanded compensation for pre-production costs. These included scheduling changes and early preparations.
The production house claimed that a large part of the work was already completed. Ranveer Singh had been involved during the early planning stages of Don 3.
Later, the issue was reportedly resolved with a financial settlement. It is said that Ranveer Singh paid around Rs 10 crore to settle the matter.
There are also reports that further arrangements were discussed. These include possible collaboration agreements for future projects.
Industry sources initially described the situation as simple creative differences. However, later reports revealed more details about the dispute.
