Shaheen Shah Afridi and Ansha Announce Arrival of Their First Child

Pakistan’s star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi and his wife Ansha Afridi have welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Ali Yar. The couple announced the joyful news on social media, receiving congratulations from fans and well-wishers worldwide.

The birth of their son is a special milestone for the cricketing family, with former Pakistan captain Shahid Khan Afridi, Shaheen’s father-in-law, becoming a grandfather for the first time.

Earlier in July, reports suggested Shaheen and Ansha were expecting their first child, and Pakistan’s red ball coach Jason Gillespie had mentioned that the pacer might miss the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh due to the impending arrival.

Gillespie had said at the time, “Shaheen might miss the Bangladesh Test matches due to the childbirth. We can allow him some time off if he wants to be with his wife until then.” Pakistan is currently engaged in a two-match Test series against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, with the first Test beginning on August 21.

Shaheen Shah Afridi, the left-arm fast bowler, got engaged to Ansha Shahid, the second-eldest daughter of former national cricket captain Shahid Afridi, in 2021. Their nikah took place in a private ceremony on February 3 of the following year.

The wedding festivities and rukhsati were celebrated over a week in September 2023, with the reception held at the DHA Golf and Country Club and attended by many of Shaheen’s national cricket teammates.
