The prequel will feature the same cast as 12th Fail, including Vikrant Massey in the lead role. During the IIFA event, Chopra, accompanied by his wife Anupama Chopra, also hinted at a potential Oscar submission for 12th Fail. However, he emphasized that he values the quality of filmmaking over awards, stating, “The real award is when you can say, ‘Ah, I nailed it,’ or admit, ‘That didn’t quite work.'”

12th Fail has been widely praised for its portrayal of resilience and the crucial role of Shraddha Joshi, played by Medha Shankar, in Sharma’s success. The film has recently been ranked No. 1 on IMDb’s list of the top 250 Indian movies, compiled from over 8.5 million votes.
