DG Passports Restructures Punjab Zones to Improve Services

Director General of Passports (DG Passports) Mustafa Jamal Qazi has announced a new administrative structure for passport services across Punjab.

According to the DG Passports, the reorganization introduces four new sub-zones under Central and Southern Punjab regions. This step is aimed at ensuring more efficient and timely services for the public.

In Central Punjab, Lahore and Gujranwala Regional Passport Offices (RPOs) will now function as independent sub-zones. Similarly, in Southern Punjab, Multan and Bahawalpur RPOs have been designated as new sub-zones.

Mustafa Jamal Qazi said the restructuring would streamline operations and reduce delays in passport issuance. โ€œWe are utilizing all available resources to ensure timely delivery of passports to citizens,โ€ he stated.

Officials noted that the creation of sub-zones will strengthen coordination and improve public convenience. It will also help handle the growing number of applications more effectively.

Meanwhile, Pakistanโ€™s passport has been ranked 96th globally in the Henley Passport Index 2025. The quarterly ranking by London-based Henley & Partners evaluates the travel freedom of 199 passports to 227 destinations worldwide.

The index uses data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). According to the latest update, the United States slipped to 10th place, marking its lowest ranking in two decades.

Experts believe that the restructuring by DG Passports will not only ease access to services in Punjab but also play a role in improving Pakistanโ€™s standing in global mobility rankings.

With this step, authorities expect smoother operations and greater convenience for people across different regions of the province.
