The federal government has announced new petroleum prices for the first half of September 2025. While petrol rates remain unchanged, diesel and other fuels have seen minor reductions.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, the price of petrol will stay fixed at Rs 264.61 per litre. The rate of high-speed diesel, however, has been cut by Rs 3, bringing it down to Rs 269.99 per litre.
The revised petroleum prices are effective from September 1, 2025. Details are as follows:
- Petrol (Super): Rs 264.61 per litre (unchanged)
- High-Speed Diesel: Rs 269.99 per litre (reduced by Rs 3)
- Light-Speed Diesel: Rs 159.76 per litre (down from Rs 162.16)
- Kerosene Oil: Rs 176.81 per litre (down from Rs 178.27)
This revision follows the last review on August 16, when petrol rates were also kept steady, while diesel was reduced by Rs 12.84 per litre, fixing it at Rs 272.99.
In addition, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced changes in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) rates for September. LPG prices have been reduced by Rs 1.17 per kilogram, lowering the new price to Rs 214.2 per kg. Consequently, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder (11.8 kg) has decreased by Rs 14.36, from Rs 2,541.36 to Rs 2,527.
Officials said the adjustments in petroleum prices aim to balance global market trends and domestic affordability. The decision comes as households and businesses continue to face financial pressure due to rising energy costs.
