Kirsten Dunst has openly discussed how people often mispronounce her name. In a new interview with Town and Country magazine, the actress admitted she has grown used to hearing many variations.
“I mean, everyone messes up my name, so I give up,” Kirsten Dunst shared. She explained that people have called her everything from Keer-sten to Criss-ten and Ker-stin.
The Interview with the Vampire star added that she doesn’t blame anyone for the mistake. “Like in England, they don’t really say my name right,” she noted. Referring to her movie Melancholia, she recalled how even on a Swedish set, people got it wrong. “There were Swedish people and people from Hungary. You just give up.”
Despite the confusion, Kirsten Dunst confirmed the correct pronunciation is Keer-sten. She added with a laugh, “But again, who cares? It’s fine.”
The actress has previously spoken about challenges on film sets. In a past interview with Marie Claire, she revealed she didn’t always feel comfortable speaking up. On the Spider-Man set, she recalled being given a frustrating nickname. “They would call me ‘girly-girl’ sometimes on the walkie-talkie. But I never said anything,” she admitted.
When asked if she would return to a superhero film, Kirsten Dunst gave a practical answer. “Yes, because you get paid a lot of money, and I have two children, and I support my mother,” she said.
Kirsten Dunst, 43, shares two sons, Ennis Howard and James Robert, with her husband, actor Jesse Plemons. Despite the mispronunciations, she remains focused on her career and family, while fans continue to admire her work and authenticity.
