KJ Apa has shared heartfelt thoughts on fatherhood and how it has changed his life. The Riverdale star, whose real name is Keneti James Fitzgerald Apa, is the father of three-year-old Sasha Vai Keneti Apa, whom he shares with his ex-girlfriend, Clara Berry.
In a candid interview with The Hollywood Reporter, KJ Apa admitted he did not expect to become a father at a young age. The 28-year-old actor said, “I certainly wasn’t expecting to be a father this young.” He explained that while he and his partner were not planning for a child, becoming a parent turned out to be the “most amazing thing” that happened to him.
Speaking about how his son has impacted his life, KJ Apa expressed deep gratitude. “My son, in a lot of ways, has saved me and keeps me grounded,” he shared. He described fatherhood as a gift that has brought balance and purpose to his life.
The actor also reflected on how being a parent has changed his pace. Known for his energetic personality, he explained that fatherhood has forced him to slow down. “I move really quick, and I feel like it’s great for me because it forces me to chill, to slow down, and trust that everything is as it should be.”
KJ Apa highlighted that being a father has taught him patience and perspective, both personally and professionally. He said that in a competitive industry, it is natural to want to excel, but his son has helped him see life differently.
