Pakistan and Iran reaffirm resolve to jointly eliminate terrorism and enhance border security after a high-level telephonic exchange between military leaders.
Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir spoke with Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi on strengthening cooperation. Both sides emphasized the need for coordinated action against terrorist networks operating along the shared border.
According to a statement from the Iranian embassy, the two commanders agreed that regional security depends on collective measures. They stressed that closer coordination would help protect civilians and ensure peace in the border areas.
Mousavi, as quoted by Iranโs IRNA, said Tehran was fully prepared to work closely with Islamabad. He added that Iran reaffirm resolve to stand with Pakistan in its fight against terrorism. He also expressed solidarity with the Pakistani people affected by recent floods, offering support โwithin Iranโs capacity.โ
The Iranian commander praised Pakistanโs stance during Tehranโs recent 12-day conflict with Israel. He noted that Islamabadโs position highlighted the growing trust and cooperation between the two neighboring states.
The renewed understanding builds on Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkianโs recent two-day visit to Pakistan. During the visit, both countries signed 12 agreements and MoUs. These covered border management, plant protection, ICT, culture and media, maritime safety, judicial assistance, air services, product certification, and tourism cooperation (2025โ27).
Officials said the latest discussion shows Iran reaffirm resolve to deepen bilateral ties and address shared security concerns. Both sides also view cooperation as vital for regional stability and economic progress.
With continued dialogue and joint initiatives, Pakistan and Iran aim to strengthen trust, combat cross-border threats, and ensure peace along their frontier.
