PTI Issues Warning and Announces Leadership Changes Amid Founder’s Health Concerns

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has issued a strong political warning following a late-night core committee meeting in Islamabad. The party demanded access to its founder, Imran Khan, and announced possible shutdown and wheel-jam protests if delays continue.

The PTI core committee expressed serious concern over the health of Imran Khan. It called for a transparent medical examination at Shaukat Khanum Hospital and full disclosure of his condition. Committee members condemned restrictions that have limited Khan’s meetings with family, legal advisors, and political associates, calling the obstacles politically motivated.

Protests and Court Actions Planned
The committee warned that shutdowns and wheel-jam demonstrations could take place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other major cities if access to Khan is not arranged promptly. Responsibilities for organizing protests on February 8 were assigned to committee members. PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja and Chairman Barrister Gohar were directed to expedite all court cases related to the founder’s meetings. The opposition leader was also instructed to raise the issue in parliamentary forums, including the Senate and National Assembly.

Leadership Changes in PTI
In a significant development, former opposition leader Omar Ayub Khan resigned from PTI’s political committee. In a message on social media platform X, Ayub cited legal obligations and other engagements as reasons for stepping down. He recommended limiting political committee membership to current party office-bearers and suggested Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the opposition leader, be included. Ayub reaffirmed his lifelong commitment as a PTI worker.

Shortly after, Shibli Faraz also resigned from the political committee, marking another challenge to PTI’s internal structure.

New Inductions to Strengthen Committee
To fill the gaps, PTI inducted Zulfi Bukhari and Intezar Panjotha into the political committee. A notification from Salman Akram Raja highlighted Panjotha’s services to the party and Bukhari’s role as the founder’s advisor on international relations and media. PTI leadership expressed hope that the new members would enhance political strategy and diplomatic outreach.
