LAHORE: The Lahore Traffic Police has established five driving training schools for students under the CM Punjab E-Bike Scheme.
The new facilities will provide students with driving training and licensing services. The initiative aims to promote safer riding among students receiving electric bikes.
According to the Lahore Traffic Police, five locations have been selected for the training facilities. These include Abshar Driving School and Liberty Khidmat Markaz.
The other locations are Greater Iqbal Park, Traffic Police Lines Manawan and LOS Ferozepur Road.
Students participating in the E-Bike Scheme can use these facilities to learn safe driving practices. They can also access licensing facilities through the designated centers.
The initiative is part of the Punjab government’s electric bike program for students. The program aims to improve affordable transportation options for young people.
It also focuses on encouraging responsible and safe motorcycle riding. Driving training is expected to help students understand traffic rules and road safety.
CM Punjab E-Bike Scheme Details
Under the CM Punjab Electric Bike Scheme, the provincial government plans to distribute 100,000 electric bikes.
The bikes will be provided to students across Punjab. The total cost of each electric bike is listed at PKR 199,000.
However, students will pay PKR 109,000 for each bike under the scheme. Their share can be paid through a 36-month installment plan.
The monthly installment has been fixed at PKR 3,028. The Punjab government will cover several additional costs for participating students.
These costs include insurance, mark-up and registration charges. This arrangement is intended to reduce the financial burden on students.
More than 33,000 public and private educational institutions are eligible to participate in the program.
Students can apply for the scheme through the official online portal. Applications are available at bikes.punjab.gov.pk.
The establishment of driving schools adds a training component to the E-Bike Scheme. Students will have access to both electric bikes and related licensing support.
