A Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Aleema Khan. She failed to appear at the Court for the hearing of a protest case held on November 26 at D-Chowk.
The protest, organized by PTI leader Imran Khan, demanded the restoration of the partyโs electoral mandate, the release of detained leaders, and the annulment of the 26th Constitutional Amendment. Aleema Khan is among ten others facing charges in the case.
During Mondayโs hearing, Aleema Khanโs lawyer requested an exemption from her personal appearance in the Court. The plea cited difficulties caused by the blocking of her bank accounts, passport, and identity card.
ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah ordered that Aleema Khan be presented before the Court by Tuesday. The judge also ruled that her bank accounts, passport, and identity documents will remain blocked until she appears. Notices were issued to her guarantors to ensure her presence.
The case is registered at Sadiqabad Police Station. Authorities confirmed that the charges involve Aleema Khan and other participants in the D-Chowk protest. The legal proceedings will continue once Aleema Khan appears before the Court.
Officials emphasized that the Court is following proper legal procedures. The issuance of arrest warrants is part of ensuring accountability for participants in unlawful protests.
Legal experts say the case highlights the judiciaryโs role in maintaining law and order during politically sensitive events. Aleema Khanโs absence prompted the Court to take stricter measures.
Police and legal authorities are coordinating to enforce the Court order. The situation remains under close monitoring as Aleema Khan is expected to respond to the summons in the coming days.
The development has drawn attention from political circles and media. Observers note that the case may have broader implications for PTI leaders involved in protests against government decisions.
