The Babusar Pass experienced an unusual and significant snowfall on August 28th, leading to unexpected challenges for those traveling through the area.
The snowfall was so heavy that it covered not only the Babusar Top but also the roads, making it extremely tough for vehicles to maintain proper grip and navigate safely. Moreover, the snowfall was accompanied by an unrelenting blizzard, further reducing visibility and adding to the difficulties.
As a result of the dangerous road conditions, many motorists found themselves compelled to stop their vehicles at the side of the road. Similarly, individuals who were en route to Babusar Pass had to halt their journey midway due to the adverse conditions.
Recognizing the severity of the situation, the local authorities took action by limiting the flow of traffic on Babusar Pass. They emphasized that this was necessary as the precipitation persisted, and they estimated that it would take a considerable amount of time to clear the roads and restore safe passage.
Adding to these measures, the district administration recently imposed restrictions on nighttime travel along the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road, which connects Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.
This decision is influenced by concerns regarding security issues and the unpredictable nature of the weather conditions in the region. Travelers have been duly advised to exercise vigilance and remain attentive to any unforeseen obstacles that might arise during their journeys.
