Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti said the provincial government will not surrender to militant threats. He confirmed that 145 terrorists were killed in recent security operations across Balochistan.
The chief minister shared these details during a press conference on Sunday. He said 17 security personnel were martyred during clashes with militants. He also confirmed that the bodies of 145 terrorists are now in government custody.
Bugti said intelligence reports helped security agencies act in time. Operations were launched one day before planned attacks. He said the actions lasted around 40 hours and prevented major damage.
He also confirmed that 31 civilians were martyred in the attacks. Several others were injured and shifted to hospitals. He added that the loss of innocent lives was tragic and deeply painful.
The chief minister said some militants were Afghan nationals. He said investigations are ongoing to identify all those involved. He stressed that cross-border elements are also being examined.
Bugti said around 1,500 terrorists have been killed in different operations across Balochistan over the past year. He said security forces remain active and alert in sensitive areas.
He revealed that a day earlier, 40 terrorists were killed in operations in Shaban and Panjgur. These actions stopped a planned attack from the north-east of Quetta. Another operation in Panjgur also prevented a separate assault.
Bugti said no village in Balochistan was evacuated during these operations. He said efforts were made to avoid civilian harm. Action against fleeing militants is still ongoing.
The chief minister said militants want to impose their ideology through violence. He added that the government will not lay down arms, even if resistance continues for years.
He also accused hostile foreign forces of using local people for their agenda. He said the people of Balochistan are being misled and exploited.
Bugti said terrorists could not take even an inch of land. He added that peace will return to Balochistan. He assured citizens that the government remains committed to security and stability.
