The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted below-average rainfall across the country this winter, with Balochistan expected to experience particularly dry and cold conditions throughout December. Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz Khan mentioned that no rainfall is predicted for Balochistan this month, though a rain system could bring rain and snow to northern parts of the region in early January.
For the remainder of winter, precipitation levels are expected to remain lower than normal, raising concerns about the impact on water supplies and agriculture. While much of Pakistan faces dry weather, northern areas are experiencing heavy snowfall, transforming landscapes into a winter wonderland.

Quetta has recorded temperatures as low as minus 4 degrees Celsius, with cold winds reaching Karachi and contributing to a chill across the country. The PMD has issued a warning for severe cold conditions lasting until at least December 14, affecting regions from Karachi to Khyber.
Tourist hotspots like Malam Jabba, Kalam, and Murree have seen significant snowfall, with scenic winter views attracting visitors. In Murree, there was a brief break in snowfall, allowing tourists to enjoy the scenery. However, in Shogran, around 300 tourists had to be rescued due to intense snow.
With snow expected to continue, the PMD has issued a security alert for Murree and Galiyat to ensure visitor safety as the winter weather continues to draw in tourists.
