CM Afridi Attempts to Address Islamabad High Court Over PTI Matters

ISLAMABAD โ€“ Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister CM Afridi attempted to speak at the Islamabad High Court on Wednesday regarding the ongoing legal matters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. However, Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar left the court before hearing him.

Speaking to the media outside the court, CM Afridi said he approached the rostrum after other channels of communication failed. โ€œWe want to show that PTI stages peaceful protests after exhausting all options,โ€ he said. Afridi waited over an hour without receiving a response from the chief justice.

The visit also aimed to request a medical examination of Imran Khan by doctors from Shaukat Khanum Hospital. Despite filing the application, the court did not entertain it. PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja said efforts were ongoing to ensure access for Khanโ€™s doctors and family. He noted that court orders for weekly meetings with lawyers and family were not implemented on the day CM Afridi appeared.

The chief ministerโ€™s attempt to speak reflects PTIโ€™s insistence on legal transparency. Raja added that CM Afridi, representing over 45 million people, wanted to ensure the party founderโ€™s legal rights were recognized. โ€œThe Islamabad High Court is a closed door for us,โ€ he said, emphasizing plans to approach the Supreme Court.

Outside the courtroom, a man filming CM Afridi had his mobile phone confiscated by police. The video was deleted before the device was returned.

Meanwhile, Imran Khanโ€™s sister, Aleema Khan, criticized both the court and PTI leadership. She alleged the chief justice avoided hearings deliberately and claimed that her brotherโ€™s medical treatment in jail occurred without family consent. Aleema warned that no future statements regarding Khanโ€™s health would be accepted without the familyโ€™s approval.
