DG ISPR Says 2025 Marks Turning Point in Pakistan’s Fight Against Terrorism

ISLAMABAD – Director General ISPR, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has said that 2025 is a decisive year for Pakistan’s internal security. Speaking during a detailed briefing, the DG ISPR outlined major gains against terrorism and militant networks across the country.

The DG ISPR stated that Pakistan has moved away from unclear policies and partial measures. He said there is now a clear and unified national approach. This approach focuses on eliminating threats to the state, both internal and external. He credited this direction to the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

According to the briefing, security forces carried out 75,175 intelligence-based operations during 2025. This averages more than 200 operations per day. These actions targeted militant hideouts, facilitators, and sleeper cells. The DG ISPR said the results are visible in improved public safety.

He highlighted a recent operation in Karachi where authorities recovered nearly 2,000 kilograms of explosive material. The DG ISPR said this successful operation prevented a major terrorist attack. He added that such actions are based on intelligence coordination and constant vigilance.

The briefing also addressed the regional security situation. The DG ISPR said Afghan soil has been repeatedly used by terrorist groups since 2021. He stated that Pakistan has raised concerns through diplomatic channels. These include hundreds of border meetings and protest communications.

He explained that border restrictions and security actions were taken to protect Pakistani citizens. The DG ISPR said these measures were necessary after repeated attacks on border posts. He also alleged that hostile intelligence agencies are supporting militant groups to destabilize Pakistan.

The DG ISPR also discussed internal challenges. He noted differences in counterterrorism outcomes across provinces. He said improved coordination in Balochistan led to reduced violence. However, he expressed concern over rising incidents in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He stressed that terrorism cannot survive without local support networks. The DG ISPR said political unity and governance reforms are essential for lasting peace. He pointed to development projects and administrative changes as positive examples.

The briefing also mentioned the repatriation of undocumented foreigners. The DG ISPR said this step has disrupted terrorist facilitation networks. He added that the National Intelligence Fusion Centre is helping stop threats before execution.

Concluding the briefing, the DG ISPR said Pakistan has entered 2026 with strong momentum. He honored the sacrifices of security personnel, including more than 1,200 martyrs last year. He reaffirmed that the state will continue decisive action against all terrorist groups.
