A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck several cities in Punjab, including Lahore, Jhelum, Kamalia, and Gujrat, causing panic as residents fled buildings and homes. The tremors were felt across other cities such as Nankana Sahib, Jalalpur Bhattian, Wazirabad, Shahkot, and Bhalwal.
The National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) confirmed that the earthquake’s epicenter was near Kharian, at a depth of 15 kilometers. Fortunately, no casualties or significant property damage were reported.

In response, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has been actively monitoring the situation. The PDMA has received initial reports from all districts, and its Director-General assured the public that emergency personnel are on high alert in case of aftershocks. Provincial and district emergency centers remain operational around the clock, and citizens are encouraged to report any damage or emergencies via the PDMA helpline at 1129.
The tremors prompted many to recite prayers as they gathered outside, but the situation remains under control with no significant consequences reported.
